According the latest Wheel of Time show Barside Buzz, Season 3 will merge two powerful weapons from the books. The information comes from the folks over at WOT Up! In their recent video.

Ultimately the two weapons being merged, in a way, are the Choedan Kal and the Sakarnen. Both are super powerful sa’angreal from the Age of Legends. In the books there’s no doubt which is the most powerful and that’s the giant statues that both represent the Choedan Kal. Book fans will also be familiar with this one because of the very specific purpose it gets used for in later books.

Well, according to the rumor, the Choedan Kal is in Season 3, or at least the one in Rhuidean. However, it is not as massive as it is in the books, also they’ve heard it has been renamed the Sakarnen. Which would logically tell us that the Sakarnen has likely been cut from the show version.

To be fair, I’ll guess most first time readers couldn’t even tell you what the Sakarnen was until later reads. This is the sa’angreal that Demandred has during The Last Battle which he uses to devastating effect. It is a two part sa’angreal which when combined can only be used by a Male channeler. In the series only the Choedan Kal and maybe Callandor, (though it has a big flaw in its design as book readers know) are stronger.

There is a story of how Demandred got the weapon. However, it was released as a separate short story. If this is a story that can’t be fit in the books? Well, it’s definitely not going to fit in this show. A show which eventually has to drop a lot of plots to fit 14 books into 8 Seasons. So, yeah, I’m not going to cry about this one. Change of name though is a little strange, but no biggie for me.

So what do think of the Wheel of Time rumor that Season 3 will merge two powerful weapons from the books? As always, share any thoughts below.
