Disney Channel is bringing back the magic with “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” a continuation of the beloved Emmy® Award-winning series “Wizards of Waverly Place.” The new show premieres with a special two-episode event on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 8:00 p.m. EDT on Disney Channel. Fans eager for more can catch the first eight episodes on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand the following day, Wednesday, Oct. 30.
It was revealed that Disney Channel veterans Raven-Symoné, best known for her work on “Raven’s Home,” and Danielle Fishel, the iconic star from “Girl Meets World,” will be directing episodes in the first season. Their involvement adds a layer of nostalgia and expertise, given their deep ties to the Disney Channel family.
A Magical Return
“Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” reintroduces audiences to Justin Russo, portrayed by David Henrie, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family—his wife Giada, daughter Roman, and son Milo. However, the mundane takes a magical turn when Justin’s sister Alex Russo, played by Selena Gomez in a guest-starring role, arrives seeking help. She brings with her a new wizard-in-training named Billie, played by Janice LeAnn Brown, whose powers need guidance. Faced with the challenge of mentoring Billie while managing his everyday life, Justin must once again embrace his magical roots to safeguard the future of the Wizard World.
A New Cast of Characters
The series introduces a new generation of wizards, alongside familiar faces. Joining Henrie and Brown are Alkaio Thiele as Roman Russo, Max Matenko as Milo Russo, Taylor Cora as Winter, and Mimi Gianopulos as Giada Russo. With a blend of new talent and original cast members, “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” aims to captivate both new audiences and long-time fans of the original series.
