According to the latest Barside Buzz World War Hulk is essentially Avengers 4.5 and there will be no Fantastic Four in Avengers 5. The information comes from Alex P of TCC and he has a really high hit rate for Marvel scoops. Alex P also says that Doctor Strange will not appear in Avengers 5. However, it seems like Strange will return for Secret Wars (Avengers 6).
We will start with the World War Hulk story. That’s a movie some insiders swear is still being developed and others have never heard of. We have no ide how it will be set up yet or when it’s supposed to get made. However, the claim is that WWH will feel like a smaller scale Avengers movie. Kind of like how Captain America: Civil War is often referred to by fans as Avengers 2.5. As you’ll be aware if you read LRM regularly, this Civil War connection has been hinted at before in rumors.

Perhaps slightly cryptic? However if you follow the leaks game like I do, it is pretty clear what Alex is saying here and that movie is World War Hulk. Alex has been one of those saying it will still happen for some time. It also seems like the events of Captain America: Brave New World will lead directly into whatever situation happens in World War Hulk. It’s also likely, that this will be more off an ensemble movie, even if it is led by Mark Ruffalo.

Secondly Alex says that the Fantastic Four will not appear in Avengers 5. As you know the Fantastic Four movie comes out before Avengers 5 (currently). I therefore kinda expected both movies to be filming around the same time. I guess I just assumed the FF would not show up till Secret Wars in an team up tentpole.

It does kinda makes sense that like Infinity War, you have to have the Avengers lose. So that when everybody teams up in Secret Wars, they can win. The formula is simple enough. It’s more about writing a plot that makes both turn of events sound plausible. Civil War caused a fracture in The Avengers and this is when Thanos pounced. He defeated the Avengers when they were separated by lost to them when everyone teamed up to stand up to him.
It seems like there will be a split in our heroes between Avengers level and street level (Spider-Man 4), meanwhile Sam creates a new group of Avengers in Brave New World and likely World War Hulk. Elsewhere, Strange and FF will be off doing their own things. After the dirt hits the fan in Avengers 5, they all come back to help win the day in Avengers 6. Though I would guess some sacrifice will be involved and I honestly could see it being Strange who gets killed this time.
