The next (and potentially last) chapter in the X-Men saga is coming next year in the form of Dark Phoenix. After facing delays and reshoots (though only a couple weeks of reshoots, so standard fare), we will be getting a new trailer this evening. But if you still wanted a bit of flavor for what the film will be like ahead of the trailer release, Fox has you covered.
The studio has released both an official poster and synopsis. Check out the poster below:
As you can see, the poster is just a still version of the teaser we saw earlier this morning, with a profile shot of Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey and a fiery X in the background. In the far background are the stars of space, making for a cool and effective first look.

Below is the official synopsis:
“In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.”
While many argue it is far too soon for this storyline to actually take place (we’ve only seen Jean Grey in one movie, after all), I think they do have the added benefit of the main foe being someone from within. Hopefully, it’ll make for a much more engaging view than Apocalypse was.

Dark Phoenix hits theaters on February 14, 2019.
