Yann Demange exits as director of Marvel’s upcoming Blade movie, leaving the hunt on for a new director. This Blade movie just can’t seem to catch a break can it? The entire movie has been rewritten once already and is still being worked on, and now Marvel are on the search for a new director.
The information comes from The Wrap who said;
‘Yann Demange is no longer directing Marvel Studios “Blade,” The Wrap has exclusively learned.’
‘The parting with the French-Algerian filmmaker actually happened a while ago and was entirely amicable. Demange, best known to date for directing on acclaimed television series “Lovecraft Country” and “Top Boy,” was the second director to part the project after replacing Bassam Tariq (“Mogul Mowgli”).’
‘Marvel veteran writer Eric Pearson, who most recently worked on “Fantastic Four,” is currently working on the “Blade” script. Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto and Michael Green wrote previous drafts of the script.’

Rumor wise after this news broke Jeff Sneider also claimed that as great a director as Demange is, he was, “difficult to work with” according to sources at Marvel Studios. As indicated by the outlet Eric Pearson is now said to be revamping the last script by Michael Green, with most of the earlier ideas now seemingly scrapped.
Blade was announced quote some years ago and so was star Mahershala Ali. Yet, Ali has made one appearance so far in the MCU since then, and it was just his voice. The end credit scene of The Eternals saw Ali’s Blade warn Dane Whitman about picking up the Ebony Blade.
However, production is set to begin later this year finally on Blade. If Demange left some time ago, that means the hunt for a new director has been going some time. I guess we know wait to see who Marvel selects to bring this one to screens?
As always, once production begins, we will get a few more rumors, but for now we wait to see who is next in the hot seat for Blade.
