‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ Helmer Sean Durkin to Bring ‘The Exorcist’ as a TV Series

Maybe audiences are tired of all these exorcism movies on the big screen. But, a famous Hollywood exorcist movie may repossess your television screens.

New York Mag’s Vulture blog has reported writer-director Sean Durkin plans to adapt “The Exorcist” into a ten-episode television series.

The television series will follow the events leading up to the demonic possession; the affect on the family; and then turning to Father Damien Karras for the exorcism.

The project is backed by Morgan Creek and will be pitched to the networks in the next month.

The original 1973 movie “The Exorcist” starred Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow and Linda Blair.

Durkin made his directorial debut with “Martha Marcy May Marlene” in 2011.
