Sam Raimi explains in a recent interview about the process required if he was to make a Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire. Raimi has been asked about recent rumors frequently and always maintained he knows nothing. Rumors have said that Raimi was in contention to direct Spider-Man 4 (the Tom Holland one). However, those have cooled recently. Yet Raimi’s name has been linked to Avengers: Secret Wars and remains to be.
Speaking with TheWrap Raimi, who directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, again said he’d like to work with Marvel again. However, he also stressed once again he had no current plans to do so.
“I don’t have any plans,” he said of a return to Marvel. “But I would love it!”
The outlet then asked Raimi about rumors of him reuniting with Tobey Maguire for a Spider-Man 4? One would assume produced solely by Sony rather than Marvel.
“I haven’t because I’d have to know what the next thing that character has to learn,” Raimi explained. “I’d have to talk with Tobey, and the writers. Really figure out what his personal growth for this episode would be.”

Raimi continued;
“I think if we were to make a fourth ‘Spider-Man’ film, we’d probably have to figure out the journey that Tobey Maguire his character would be going on, and what obstacles he had to overcome to achieve that growth personally,” Raimi told TheWrap. “And I hope that the villain would be chosen based on a representation of that obstacle.”
