‘Wolf of Wall Street’ Beauty Might Be Tarzan’s New Jane

margot robbie the wolf of wall street 2The Wrap is reporting that Margot Robbie, the young Australian beauty whose star is rapidly rising, is in talks to take on the role of Jane in David Yates’s upcoming adaptation of Tarzan. Yates, of course, is that man who Warner Bros turned to for the final four Harry Potter films. Now they’re entrusting him with the latest retelling of Edgar Rice Burroughs’s story, and subsequent series of novels, about a boy raised in the wild who one day becomes “King of The Jungle.”

Robbie, fresh off of a star-making turn in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, is said to be closing in on a deal to play the titular character’s love interest, Jane. Past live-action incarnations of Jane have been played Maureen O’Sullivan, Bo Derek, and Andie McDowell. The role of Tarzan will be played by True Blood’s Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd. Aside from playing a famous bloodsucker, he also happens to be the son of Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd, who has played Erik Selvig across Marvel’s Avengers and Thor movies.

Assuming everything goes smoothly, Robbie is expected to begin working on Tarzan as soon as she finishes shooting her role in the psychological thriller Z for Zachariah, starring Chris Pine- which she’s supposedly about to replace Amanda Seyfried in.

Yates has also enlisted the services of Tarantino regulars Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson for Tarzan, which will be produced by Jerry Weintraub and Alan Riche. The film is set to begin shooting this summer.

Robbie will next be seen in Will Smith’s con artist flick, Focus.
