Chiwetel Ejiofor Talks Marvel’s ‘DOCTOR STRANGE’

While CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR seems to be turning out to be quite the Marvel entry indeed, one of the biggest wild cards of the year may very well be the next film in their series, DOCTOR STRANGEUnlike every other film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far, DOCTOR STRANGE is looking delve into the supernatural realm.

Personally, however, more than anything, I look forward to the interpretation of Baron Mordo, Strange’s arch nemesis who’s set to be played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. In a recent interview with HeyUGuys, the actor talked a bit about Baron Mordo, DOCTOR STRANGEand the MCU.

“I think he’s a fascinating character. I think even in the kind of, sort of original framework of that character, I think it’s very fascinating. Fleshing that out and giving that kind of real, three-dimensional quality has been really exciting. And even within the kind of scope and the technical and visual skill of the marvel universe, I think this is really something unique as well, so I’m excited for people to see it.”

While Marvel has definitely been a studio that’s focused on its heroes much more than its villains, I see Mordo as a villain more along the lines of Loki than any others to date. Like Stephen Strange himself, Baron Mordo is also a pupil of The Ancient One, only he tried to kill The Ancient One, only to be foiled by Strange. I can see him being played very much as a more selfish and angry version of Strange, and I believe that can make for a compelling story–and not just in the film, but for a good portion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s assuming Marvel doesn’t kill him off like they do for most of their villains.

What are your thoughts on Ejiofor’s coments, and what do you want to see out of him in the MCU? Let us know in the comments down below!
