These aren’t the CHiPs your dad watched decades ago.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the first trailer of CHIPS was revealed, which stars Dax Shepard and Michael Pena as the buddy motorcycle cops.
The trailer shows lots of jokes, fun and plenty of raunchiness. They’re not quite the cool and serious Poncherello and Baker from the television show.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Jon Baker and Frank “Ponch†Poncherello have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles, but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten up pro moterbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job—inside the CHP. The inexperienced rookie and hardened pro are teamed together, but clash more than click, so kickstarting a partnership is easier said than done. But with Baker’s bike skills combined with Ponch’s street savvy it might just work…..if they don’t drive each other crazy along the way.
The movie also stars Jessica McNamee, Adam Brody and Ryan Hansen. It has plenty of cameos, including Vincent D’Onofrio, Kristen Bell, Jane Kaczmarek, Maya Rudolph, Ben Falcone and Vida Guerra.
Dax Shepard also wrote the screenplay and directed the movie.
A one-sheet poster was also released earlier in the day.
CHIPS will be riding into your theaters on March 24.
