A few days ago, it was revealed that the upcoming season of the Fox drama Gotham would include the quirky Batman villain, The Mad Hatter. Well, it turns out the man won't be alone. Variety has learned that the show has also cast Mexican actress Naian Gonzalez Norvind. Her role? The Mad Hatter's sister, a.k.a. Alice Tetch.
Here's what else Variety had to say about the character, who is set to appear in Episode 3 of Season 3:
"Alice was born with a powerful ability that she cannot control — an ability her brother believes is a gift, but that she has always seen as a curse. As such, she has spent much of her life alone, running from her brother — who will stop at nothing to be reunited in hopes of unleashing her gift on the world."
With the Mad Hatter and Alice Tetch, Gotham seems as thought it is continuing its streak of using the Batman rogues gallery in an unconventional manner. Nevermind the fact that all these villains seem to be beyond active before Bruce Wayne steps one foot into a Batsuit, but that's besides the point.
The Mad Hatter is a strange villain as it is -- an insane villain who kidnaps kids and has them play out his fantasies -- I can only imagine how much more twisted he could be in a series that seems to have little problem in pushing boundaries on network TV. Love it or hate it, the show seems to have found its stride, playing out more like an overly-violent cartoon than a standard live-action show.
