Come this April 26, 2019 fans of gaming and the DCEU will have something in common. I hope you’re a member of at least one of the groups. Regardless as to whether you are, this news, “rumor” is quite tantalizing. It all goes back to recent rumors circulating the web that stretch back for months. Rumors that a new game was coming from Rocksteady and WB Games.
The wait’s almost over. A recent leak from 4chan and ResetEra appears to show a game referred to simply as Outlaws. The specific artwork features the awe-inspiring Gotham skyline. Smack dab in the middle sits Wayne Enterprises. Some postulated that the game will focus on Batman. How great would that be? To me, that skyline hints at the possibilities of an open world? How awesome would that be?
Though great, previous Batman games have been set in a sandbox. Not only that but they’ve always had sequestered to parts of Gotham where villainous and diabolical henchman run wild, unimpeded by police or civilians. So, I am looking forward to tomorrows unveil. However, I sure hope there’s a real-world open Gotham to swing through. Hell, I want to be able to bust up a Madd Hatter tea party, rescue some civilian hostages, and get some props. Hell, I want to be able to zip the Batwing right by the goddamn Batman sign whenever Gordon needs me, which is often because Gotham needs Batman.
I should also mention there are many rumors afoot that the reveal will be a game focused on the Red Hood, or even Suicide Squad. While tantalizing, I for one just want to lock NPC’s up in Arkham Asylum so they can escape, and I can enforce my own brand of justice. What do you want to see in tomorrow’s reveal?
