There are some movies that are constantly development, but never actually hit the big screen. Such is likely the case with the horribly-titled Bad Boys For Life, a.k.a. Bad Boys 3. This is a film that’s been in the works for sometime. For a while, the film was set to be helmed by Joe Carnahan, but he recently got too busy and dropped out.

If you can believe it, the film was actually supposed to start filming near the beginning of this year (last year, Smith said they were “very, very, very close” to getting it done), and that didn’t really go anywhere. Yet, some are still holding out that the film could still happen, despite the constant stream of delays. But there’s one person who doesn’t think it’ll happen: actor Martin Lawrence.

Speaking with EW, when Lawrence was asked to give an update for the film, he said:

“I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’s turning out. Will [Smith] is off doing another movie, and I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

In Hollywood, there’s often an unwillingness to ever call a project dead. It’s usually better to hang on to some hope that it’ll happen rather than torpedo the narrative by naysaying a potential production. So in this instance, it’s nice that we’re getting some kind of comment on it. That being said, Lawrence is just an actor here, meaning that he’s not necessarily involved in the top conversations involved with this movie…but with something like this, you’d expect even some trickle down.

Though Lawrence doesn’t necessarily think the film’s going to happen, he’s not ruling out his involvement should the momentum actually pick up.

“I’m there, I’m ready right now. If they wanted to do it, I’m ready, but I don’t have control of that. That’s the studio’s decision.”
