Marvel has made a big push on the TV front as of late, adding The Gifted, an FXX animated Deadpool series, Cloak and Dagger, New Warriors, and Runaways to their offerings that already include Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Legion, and its many Netflix series. This fall, Marvel's Inhumans premieres on ABC after an exclusive IMAX run for the first two episodes, making it the third series to appear on the network after Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the already canceled Agent Carter.
As networks hold their Upfronts this week, showcasing their new series for potential advertisers, ABC has released their fall schedule, including the night and time that Inhumans will air. @TheRealJethro on Twitter has posted the new fall ABC schedule, revealing that Inhumans will air Friday nights at 9:00pm Eastern/Pacific.
This is actually a curious night to showcase a Marvel show. Aside from Saturdays, Friday nights are traditionally the least viewed; a night where shows often go to die, or are not expected to grab many viewers. Of course, delayed viewings, including the use of DVR or catching a show later on a platform like Hulu, are becoming more and more commonplace, making the night a show airs slightly less important. Perhaps Marvel is hoping to make Friday nights an event with Inhumans, or hopes to deal with less competition.
“After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.”
Marvel's Inhumans debuts on IMAX screens on September 1, 2017, with the network TV premiere on ABC following on September 26. The series will consist of eight episodes, airing at 9pm Eastern/Pacific on Friday nights.
