Who were Rey’s parents? That’s a question that has plagued Star Wars ever since The Force Awakens came out. Though while we were confident we’d find out sooner or later, we weren’t sure if it would be in this very next entry in the franchise. Speaking with Yahoo! Japan (via Star Wars News Net), actress Daisy Ridley confirms that we will find out in this next film.

“Whatever the answer is, I hope everyone will enjoy that moment. I knew the answer a few years ago, but the story that Rian Johnson created was so wonderful I couldn’t believe it, honestly I was very moved. I think that everyone will be in that moment.”

Who will her parents be? In addition to the Luke theories, there are some who think she’s Kylo Ren’s sister, and Han and Leia’s daughter, and recent news regarding Rey may potentially increase the likelihood of that theory.

And speaking of Kylo Ren, Ridley told viewers to pay attention to her relationship with him, saying:

“What you should pay attention to is that The Last Jedi is putting out the message that things might not always be so clearly black-and-white. The dividing line between good and evil is becoming more and more ambiguous, and you could say that the relationship between Rey and Kylo symbolizes that. Kylo actually believes that his own actions are correct. What about Rey? Will she make the right choice? Through such multifaceted characters, [the movie] brings out truths that have never been seen before. The ideas that Johnson, the director, has are really amazing!”

If Snoke is talking to Rey, then he “found her”, meaning she may have been an orphan. I still don’t think her parents are going to matter.
