Star Wars: The Last Jedi - First Look At Snoke's Praetorian Guard?

– by Cam Clark

Recently we have had a lot of confirmations about Star Wars: The Last Jedi for many of the leaks which have come from Making Star Wars and Star Wars News Net. So when Making Star Wars posts an artist rendering drawing of something they say they've seen, you have to take notice.

Following on from the rumors we posted about Supreme Leader Snoke (Who we now know does wear golden robes in this movie)and the reveal of Snoke's Praetorian Guard, who were described as both similar (red) and different to the Emperors Royal Guard in Return of The Jedi.

SPOILER ALERT!!

The outlet has posted a artist drawing of one of these praetorian guards, you can view the picture from the source here

I think in this picture you can see exactly what we described previously, the all red look screams Royal Guard from Jedi, but the design of the armor and weapons seems less uniform and more warrior like, It has been strongly suggested to the outlet that these guards will have some sort of action sequence in the movie as well, though where and when remains speculative.

Whilst I like the look of the design based on the drawing I don't really see why they made them red unless they really want comparison with the Royal Guard of Emperor Palpatine. If they were all silver or chrome like Captain Phasma it would take nothing from the design itself, perhaps evoking more of a Game of Thrones Kingsguard vibe. Why would they want to have this visually connect with the design from the original trilogy so much, it's one of the possible criticisms of this series depending on how The Last Jedi shakes out. The design has so far been matched up with that of the original trilogy, even in my opinion, where it's not been needed.

What do you think, do you like the design? Like one of us here at LRM, do you think it resembles like Emperor Zurg from Toy Story? So many questions and only you have the answers. Let us know what you think in the comments section down below
