With most TV shows, it’s not really emphasized over how long a period a time a season takes place. Unless you’re a show like 24, it’s usually very difficult to know just how fast things are actually moving. The same could be said of each of the Marvel Netflix series thus far. With pretty much all the shows, we can likely guess things took place over the course of weeks, they never really take the pains to actually spell it out.
This may change with the upcoming series The Defenders, which is set to bring together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist from their own respective shows. These street-level misfits will join forces for the first time against a common cause. Interestingly enough, however, the story itself may take place over the shortest timespan yet.
According to SuperBroMovies, during a panel with Iron Fist star Finn Jones, Jones stated that the 8-episode limited series would take place over the course of 48 hours. What does this mean for the story? Well, it’s admittedly hard to say. Very little is known about the plot of the season, and as such, it’s impossible to say how the timeframe affects the story.
That being said, it could imply a pretty rapidfire pace. With only 8 episodes in the season, four main characters, and 48 hours, it sounds like this could be the fastest Marvel Netflix show to date, which could help to really differentiate it from everything that’s come before.
Here’s the closest thing we have to a synopsis yet:
“Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal - to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.”
