It’s easy to lose track of the number of blockbuster films that are coming out this year. Between the Marvel movies, the DC movies, The Disney movies, and everything else in between, it kind of feels like we’re getting a brand new blockbuster just about every weekend, so it’s inevitable that you’ll forget one every now and then. But it can’t be forgotten that 2017 will be seeing the start of a brand new ambitious shared universe.

This year, we’ll be getting a reboot of The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella, and if the first trailer is any indication, it looks like it’ll be on hell of a time at the movie theaters. Say what you will about attempting to force another shared universe down the throats of consumers, but there’s something to be said about these Universal Monsters eventually sharing the same screen. And who better to kick things off than good ol’ reliable Tom Cruise?

If you’re as excited for this flick as I am, then you’re likely eagerly awaiting the next trailer. After all, since the film is due out this June, it’s only a matter of time until we can see the next one, right? Well, according to Trailer Track, it may be sooner rather than later.

According to the outlet, the Consumer Protection BC have classified the new trailer, and a such, there is a chance that it will premiere this Sunday along with The Walking Dead season finale.

Every year, it gets easier and easier to be cynical about Hollywood’s reliance on franchises, but this is a project that has a ridiculous amount of talent with it. Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange) and Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Edge of Tomorrow) have a hand in the screenplay, and on board to direct is Alex Kurtzman, who has already made his mark on Hollywood with the scripts of many great films, like the Star Trek reboot. Add in the likes of Cruise and Russell Crowe, and you have a project that anyone would be interested in seeing.

Are you excited to see a new trailer for The Mummy? Let us know your thoughts down below!

The Mummy hits theaters on June 9, 2017.
