Well, he did it! I have to say, plenty of us in the online fan community had doubts about whether or not this movie would actually hit its ambitious May 25 release date. It was an ambitious date from the very start, but when drama hit, it seemed inevitable that the release date would get pushed back.
But after coming on to virtually save the production, veteran director Ron Howard has taken to Instagram to confirm that the movie is officially done. It has finished its post-production and looks like it is completely good to go, roughly one month ahead of its worldwide release, and a couple of weeks ahead of its screening at the Cannes Film Festival.
“That’s a wrap on post-production here at #skywalkerranch #Solo Wow,” He shared on the social media platform. “What a fun & exciting ride this has been for me. Thanks to an extraordinary cast and everyone behind the camera. Hope fans around the world truly enjoy #may25

As mentioned above, this film has its fair share of drama, with original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller getting sacked with only three weeks left of principal photography. From the sound of it, they were going too much off-script and were well on their way into turning this into a big comedy, which isn’t what Lucasfilm wanted.
It was then Howard’s responsibility to come in, steer the ship back on track for its last three weeks of photography, and go back and reassess how best to make of their reshoot time. From the sound of it, it all had an effect on the talent they had to hire and the visuals they’d be able to execute.
Fingers crossed that this underdog ends up a surprise hit!
