He went from Mad TV to Key and Peele to Keanu to Get Out. From funny guy to Primetime Emmy winner and Academy Award winner. Since ending his sketch comedy series with Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele has gone on to become one of the hottest tickets in Hollywood, presenting original stories and even creating a new film genre; the “social thriller” that is Get Out. Peele has since gone on to produce the upcoming Spike Lee joint BlacKkKlansman, starring John David Washington and Adam Driver, as well as his follow-up to Get Out titled Us, which is in preproduction and set to star Lupita Nyong’o, Elisabeth Moss and Winston Duke.
And now, Peele’s talent has been noticed by Amazon Studios.
ComingSoon.net has reported that Amazon has picked up the Peele-produced series The Hunt. The series, written by actor/writer David Weil, has been given a direct-to-series order and will feature 10 episodes, each being one hour-long. The series takes place in New York City in 1977. A group, later referred to as the Hunters, discover that many former high-ranking Nazis are hiding in the city and planing to create the Fourth Reich in the United States. The Hunters decide to bring bloody justice to said Nazis. The Hunt is inspired by real-life events.

With this and his production work on BlacKkKlansman, Jordan Peele is making a loud statement in a time where racism and prejudice seem to take center stage in today’s current events. This statement mixed with his creativity can lead to thought-provoking, complex and emotional tales that will reside with the audience. Moreover, who doesn’t enjoy a good ol’ Nazi-bashing blood fest? This writer sure does and is curious if this series will pair well with Inglorious Basterds.
