I don’t think I’m telling you anything new when I say that filmmakers go through tons of concept art and costume tests before settling on the versions of characters you see in theaters. Oh, wait, you haven’t heard that? Well, yeah, that’s a thing. By the time we see what they’ve had to offer, chances are the filmmakers have already cycled through virtually every other potential look we can think of — or at least a good number of them.
It’s because of that knowledge that it’s no surprise that one Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy (aka Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt) originally had a much different look — one that skews a tad bit closer to the version from the 2008 comic, though it’s still plenty unique. Both looks still maintained an almost Rocketeer-esque aesthetic. Check out the original below.

#guardiansofthegalaxy —What StarLord almost looked like!! I created this to give us @MarvelStudios a version closer to his comicbook origins.

Honestly, I can’t really complain either way. The look here is great, but the outfit they ended up with in the film is pretty solid as well. The big plus the film version has over this is that it’s much more practical. I can only imagine how difficult it would be for Star-Lord to run around in this long jacket.
But what do you think? Are you happy with the version of the character we got? Let us know your thoughts down below!
