I’m sure plenty of you are still geeking out over how great the Battlestar Galactica TV show was. While it didn’t exactly set the world on fire in terms of its ratings, there is no doubt it has its fans, and it has made its impact on fandom. But, you gotta reboot sooner rather than later, right? I mean, that rebooted TV series was ahead of its time, so taking another crack at it in the current landscape of fandom probably isn’t a bad idea. Now, TheWrap is reporting that Universal Pictures has locked down a new scribe.
According to them, The Girl in the Spider’s Web Jay Basu has been tapped to rewrite the new film, which had an earlier draft penned by Westworld‘s Lisa Joy. While it’s hard to tell from the wording of the piece, it seems like this will be a ground-up rewrite, as opposed to using the first draft as a foundation. Basu has also worked on the upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot, and is also developing a Labyrinth sequel.

Battlestar Galactica is set to be directed by The Hunger Games helmer Francis Lawrence. It’s a project with a lot of promise, and while this could be great, a part of me wishes they’d go the TV route for this one, as it worked so well with the 2003 rebooted series. What do you think? Would it be better as a TV show or film? Let us know your thoughts down below!
