At this point in the new trilogy of Star Wars films, it seems like Rey and Kylo’s roles seem to have solidified as star-crossed lovers (Star Wars-crossed lovers?…no, forget I said that). While the pair seemed to get along very well in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, they ultimately hunkered down on their respective sides of the Force — Kylo Ren in the Dark, Rey in the Light. But what does the future hold for these two?
Vanity Fair had an extensive piece chronicling the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which will continue the story of Rey and Kylo Ren, and according to them, “a source close to the movie says that [Kylo Ren and Rey’s] Force-connection will turn out to run even deeper than we thought.”
Sadly, there was no embellishment as to what this could mean for the next film in the franchise, but regardless of how Rey seemed to close off Kylo at the very end of the film when the Millennium Falcon’s ramp went up, their relationship will likely be at the forefront of the final film of the saga.

But don’t expect Rey to be very open to the prospect of accepting Kylo to the Light.
“Rey is less inclined to believe that Kylo potentially could redeem himself,” actress Daisy Ridley told Vanity Fair.
But if the two do reconnect and repair the broken relationship, don’t expect it to be the result of any one thing. Not love. Not friendship. Nothing so simple, as Driver told the outlet.
“I don’t think it’s any one thing. The strength in what Rian [Johnson] wrote and what J.J. [Abrams] wrote is it’s never all one thing.”
