The first thing you may notice about this trailer for The King’s Man is that there’s no Eggsy, Galahad or anyone else from the first two Kingsman movies. Yep, The King’s Man is a prequel set back in The Great War, otherwise known as WWI.
The movie stars Ralph Feinnes (The Duke of Oxford) as perhaps the very first Kingsman (unsure), and it seems like he and Djimon Honsou are training a new recruit to the Kingsman branch in Matthew Goode. The cast is pretty impressive with the likes of Gemma Arterton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Charles Dance, Daniel Bruhl, Stanley Tucci, Tom Hollander, and Rhys Ifans.
The plot unsurprisingly seems to center around the War in Europe which claimed so many millions upon millions of lives back in the early 20th Century. However, it does appear as though Russia, and if I’m not mistaken Rasputin (Rhys Ifans) seem to be handling the main villains of this movie, perhaps showing the German’s as being unwitting pawns would be my guess?

I have to say, I have not been a massive fan of the Kingsman movies so far, just didn’t quite appeal to me, and yet I usually love Matthew Vaughn as a director. This one however, perhaps because of the period setting, just looks more….fun? For fans worried that this is the end of Eggsy and co, don’t, everyone involved has been pretty vocal that a third Kingsman film will happen. Perhaps the story presented in The King’s Man will have some sort of impact on how the third Kingsman movie develops?
The King’s Man is once again directed by Matthew Vaughn, from a screenplay by Karl Gajdusek and opens on February 14th, 2020.
