In a new video showing footage of the Spidey/Punisher dynamic in Brand New Day, Tom Holland and Jon Bernthal talks about their chemistry on and off set. There’s also a few words from Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton, who says at times he just let them go where they wanted to on set.
The new trailer this week definitely showed us a little of the dynamic we can expect between Frank and Peter in Brand New Day. For example, how we stop Frank from swearing in a PG-13 (just announced this past 24 hours)? Every time he’s about to we get Spider-Man cover his mouth with webbing and that’s kinda just the tip of the iceberg.

I hadn’t realised the two first met when both were auditioning for these respective roles many years ago. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how these two riff off one another. From the outside Punisher and Spider-Man don’t seem like the best combo, and yet whenever I’ve seen it in comics or cartoons it’s worked.

It would be fair to say that fans are going crazy for the new trailer. Folks are predicting that the hype around this film might even take it to the $2 Billion category, beating out even No Way Home which had three Spider-Men teaming up in it. We’ll see how things go once the movie is out, but either way you can guarantee already that Brand New Day will be a profitable film for both Studios.
I’m already determined to see this within a week of release. If word of mouth is as good as the hype has been it could really have 8 legs. I’m looking forward to seeing Tarantula who I always liked for some reason (he was never that good in all honesty) as a kid reading comics and my son loves Scorpion, so we eating good this time.
