Wheel Of Time Update: Author Brandon Sanderson Confirms Changes From Books

SPOILER LIVES! New Secret From The Wheel Of Time Shocks Fans

As sure as the day is long, you can expect any adaptation to make changes that take advantage of the film or TV medium. It’s a truth fans have had to deal with for as long as movies and television have been adapting novels, which is pretty much since the beginning of when the mediums took hold decades ago. But still, that doesn’t make fans any less uneasy when the time comes to actually sit down and watch the adaptations.

But in the case of Wheel of Time, we at least have Brandon Sanderson, the author who was tasked with finishing the series following Robert Jordan’s passing. He is loosely involved in the upcoming series, basically giving feedback on scripts, and updating us fans all the while.

Sanderson recently dropped a new update to his mailing list where he gave brief updates on the progress of the series.

“I’ve been very impressed with [showrunner Rafe Judkins], and during my visit to the set in Prague last month I found the production to be very high quality. The sets looked great, the acting was on point, and the shots they were filming while I was there looked excellent. I’ve liked the scripts too, though they are changing some things from the books. Some changes I agree with 100%, some I find a little more uncertain.”

It’s that last part I want to touch on, as I’m sure it’s the part that’ll concern most fans. As I said above, changes are inevitable, but hopefully in favor of something superior. Sanderson obviously didn’t give any specifics, but I’m sure fans will be trying to figure just what these changes are and whether or not they’re truly necessary.

That being said, we know that Sanderson’s specialty is in novel-writing, and he may not have quite an eye for something working on the page versus on the screen. Plus, when all said and done, he only said some of the changes find him “a little more uncertain,” so for all we know, he could literally just be slightly unsure.

Either way, I’m excited to see how this show turns out. With The Witcher fast approaching, I find myself all too eager to see these shows starting to pick up, and can’t wait to see it when it’s ready.
