Darth Yoda? A Dark Yoda? Yes, one of the most powerful Jedi to ever hold a lightsaber, briefly allowed himself to be susceptible to the Darkside. In the 2004 novel, Star Wars: Yoda – Dark Rendezvous, Master Yoda agreed to meet with his old padawan, Count Dooku, who was now a Darkside apprentice to Darth Sidious.
Dooku’s plan was to try and turn Yoda to the Darkside in hopes of him defeating Sidious allowing Dooku to step in (bad idea Dookie). Yoda, being Yoda, was not tempted by the idea. However, the Jedi Master momentarily opened himself up to the Darkside and showed Dooku a vision of what a Jedi with Yoda’s level of power would be like if they went dark.

Apparently the vision that Yoda showed Dooku was absolutely terrifying. A Jedi with his power that turned could put the entire universe at risk. Even Count Dooku acknowledged the potential of a dark Yoda would far too big of a chance to take. Yoda was, of course, able to return to the light. Though it shows how destructive a force user with Yoda’s level of power could be.
There’s a great episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (I believe it’s episode 6.12) where Yoda sets out on a journey give to him by Qui-Gon Jinn, who appeared to him as a For ghost. Yoda seeks to learn the ability for himself. Yoda then faces trials from five priestesses who judge whether or not he is worthy of obtaining the ability of immortality.
One of the more interesting parts of the episode is that Yoda must defeat his Darkside doppelganger. And it gives an idea or what Yoda and Dooku both saw in the vision from the Star Wars: Yoda – Dark Rendezvous novel. Although while frightening, this version of an evil Yoda doesn’t have anything close to the power described in the novel.
