Murder. Mystery. And a sex triangle.

In the same fashion as 1998’s Wild Things, The Estate has all the same elements for a mystery drama involving a mother, son, and a hired hit man. Not to mention, there are plenty of secrets that played into the twists and turns that’ll leave you with your jaw wide opened from the show.

Earlier this month, The Estate showcased itself as one of the films at the Newport Beach Film Festival virtually. LRM Online’s Gig Patta hopped on a virtual interview to speak with actor/writer Chris Baker and James Kapner on the film.

Here’s the synopsis of the film:

First-time feature director James Kapner deftly balances humor and horror, using his keen eye to develop a perfectly campy, Ryan Murphy-esque world. When a narcissistic son yearning for a life of luxury and his father’s erratic gold-digging wife decide to kill their way into their inheritance, they employ the help of an absurdly handsome, mysterious hitman, initiating a psychosexual love triangle that spirals into more than anyone bargained for.

The film stars Chris Baker, Eliza Coupe, Greg Finley, Heather Matarazzo, Eric Roberts, Lala Kent, and Alexandra Billings.

The Estate marks James Kapner’s feature film directorial debut. He directed numerous shorts over the years, including Every Single Day, Josie Grossy, and Baker Daily.

For Chris Baker, The Estate is his first feature film writing debut and as a lead for a film. In the past, he appeared in television and shorts, including Baker Daily, The Office Is Mine, and The Catch.
