Charles Melton being keen on X-Men casting, RDJ saying he prefers playing Doom over Tony Stark, plus Marvel’s essential watchlist for Doomsday. That’s today’s Marvel news roundup, so let’s get started.
X-Men
Charles Melton was long rumored to be top choice for the role of Beast in Jake Schreier’s X-Men. However, he was not announced this past weekend at D23 and rumors are he is still in talks, bit hasn’t closed a deal.
Speaking with Extra TV Melton indicates he’d be happy to get a role in X-Men and his Beef co-star Oscar Isaac agrees he’d be perfect.

Is it just a matter of time before he is announced as Beast, or will Marvel move on to another option? I guess we need to wait and see?
Avengers: Doomsday
First up in this section we have a recent interview from this weekend’s D23 where RDJ, Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell were present to promote Doomsday.
RDJ was asked whether he prefers playing Doctor Doom or Tony Stark? You can see the interview on Instagram, but here’s his response in text form.
“It was really weird being the guy — everyone else is hanging out, they’re the good heroes, and I’m [in] this mask and this hood. I’m like, ‘They’re all on one side of the camera, and I guess they’re all mad at me or something.’ But I’ll say this: getting to know [Hayley Atwell] better, all of [mine and Chris Evans’] history, because you’re a legit dude. Because you don’t say yes because you can; it has to feel right. And I think that in Doomsday, what happens with this key relationship is so exciting and unexpected and beautiful. I will say Doom, for now, because I got to really observe what I’ve been missing the whole time, just everybody else.”
I guess it probably is a lot more fun to play the bad guy in one of these?

Makes sense on the surface, but I think it’s notable that there’s no mention of The Marvels, which literally ended with Monica going into the X-Men Universe. I need to be careful here due to leaks, but let’s just say, as far as I am aware from leaks I’ve seen, Monica isn’t in the film. It’s possible she is and that part didn’t come out in the leaks, but I tell it like I see it based on what I know. I’ll say no more on Doomsday itself, but I do wonder whether Marvel are trying to just ignore The Marvels due to it’s poor performance? I guess we will know more only after Secret Wars because Monica could show up there?
