I can’t believe that Baby Yoda eating eggs is something that needs to be addressed. But it is 2020 and everything else has gone to shit so we shouldn’t be surprised. Spoiler warning for those who have not watched Chapter 10 of The Mandalorian.
In the latest episode Din Djarin agreed to ferry a passenger with a special package to meet with her husband. That special package ended up being a tube of eggs that needed to be fertilized to continue the family lineage of the Frog Lady’s family. At the beginning we see Baby Yoda have a special bond with the eggs which some thought they may have been Force sensitive. Little did we know that Baby Yoda was just hungry and wanted some soft boiled eggs.
Throughout the rest of the episode we see Din Djarin trying to keep Baby Yoda from eating the eggs which leads the youngling to eat a baby Krykna. Of course what was supposed to be a piece of humor added to the episode turned up as a piece of controversy on Twitter.
Phil Szostak from Lucasfilm went to Twitter to clear things up that Frog Lady’s eggs were in fact unfertilized just like chicken eggs most humans eat.

Coming from a father that went through the experience of IVF with my wife taking years to get pregnant there is no reason to be offended from this episode. Trying to compare Frog Lady’s eggs to a woman trying to get pregnant through IVF is a far stretch. The scenes of Baby Yoda eating the eggs is dark humor. It was supposed to add a sense of humor to a dark situation being stranded on an ice planet. Anyone who was offended by these scenes and are trying to compare it to human life are really reaching to be offended.
There are plenty of other things to complain about from 2020. Baby Yoda eating a couple eggs is not something we need to be arguing on social media. If this was something that disturbed you enough that you needed to share on social media your grievance then maybe you shouldn’t be watching Star Wars or on social media. Instead of arguing what a puppet should or should not be eating maybe we focus on real world issues. Just a thought…
