I must admit, I never thought we’d hear about this bit, as the title says, some George Lucas Star Wars sequel plans have appeared. When I first saw this, I just immediately assumed it was fake, bit no. This is apparently comments from Lucas which have never been published elsewhere. The excerpt in the image below, posted on Reddit comes from new book Star Wars Archives Episode 1-3 The Prequels. I expect having read this, that this was said by Lucas during the prequels. For one, it seems like some of the ideas he had here were actually used for The Clone Wars. check it out.

As you can see, Luke was going to restart the Jedi Order, while Leia would have been struggling to re-establish the New Republic. Darth Maul would have become an underground Warlord with his apprentice Darth Talon. It sounds like this was Lucas had in mind when the cast were still young enough to pull it off. It’s therefore highly likely to me that Lucas’ overview he gave Disney after the purchase of Lucasfilm would be different. Maybe even set in the period after his ‘original ending’ had taken place. Luke would presumably have been a teacher of a generation of Jedi, with Leia leading the Republic. In fact, it sounds a hell of a lot like the old EU books doesn’t it?

However, we did also hear the Lucas originally planned to kill Hermit Luke in Episode 8, which actually happened in the sequel trilogy we got. One can only hope that it somehow all made more sense in Lucas head than it did Abrams and Johnson. Disney, I know this is fruitless, but can we just scarp the sequel trilogy and start again pretty please? Though, sadly it would be too late for Carrie Fisher to come back. Another way in which Disney ruined their window of opportunity with Star Wars to begin with.
