Sophie Kargman and Aidan Bristow on Psychological Thriller The Believer [Exclusive Interview]

When a man loses his grip on reality, his mind starts to play games on what is happening all around him. 

For The Believer, Sophie Kargman and Aidan Bristow displayed their acting skills towards this mind-twisting movie. Kargman played the wife that confuses the husband with unusual and untrustworthy actions. While Bristow played the paranoid husband perfectly, who was deteriorating rather quickly both mentally and physically. 

Also, Billy Zane starred as a therapist in that tries to help the husband mentally. Shan Serafin wrote and directed the movie. 

Here’s the official synopsis: 

The Believer is the story of an out-of-work scientist facing mental deterioration finds he may be battling his wife’s obsession with demonic activity. Lucas is an out-of-work nuclear scientist, struggles with tension in his marriage after his wife Violet mysteriously terminates her pregnancy without his consent. As Lucas’ physical health begins to inexplicably deteriorate, Violet’s behavior grows increasingly bizarre and he seeks clarity from his therapist Dr. Benedict. Exhausted by his job search, strange events begin to occur in the home and his medical condition progressively declines. Benedict recommends they try an alternative therapy, but it only makes matters worse. Lucas questions Benedict’s effectiveness as his grip on reality begins to face. Violet’s deceitful behavior arouses his ever-deepening suspicions, and after a visit from two mysterious guests, her insidious behavior becomes disturbingly pervasive. Lucas’ anger and frustration turns to fear as Violet’s sinister intentions are revealed. Lucas tries in vain to escape the evil web she has spun, but by the time he discovers the truth, it might be too late.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with the actors Sophie Kargman and Aidan Bristow on the movie. 

Sophie Kargman graduated from Harvard University, in which she majored in English, Psychology, and Theatre. She wrote a true-crime series to eOne and currently developing a dark comedy drama series with Akiva Goldman’s Weed Road Pictures. After a couple of short films, she is making her directorial feature film debut with Susie Searches, which is currently in pre-production. Her short film Query starred Justice Smith, Graham Patrick Martin and Armie Hammer earned significant praised after it premiered at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival. As an actress, she was featured in many television shows and independent films. Most recently, she starred in Dev Patel’s directorial debut Home Shopper with Armie Hammer and Thomas Sadoski. 

Aidan Bristow attended College of William & Mary, in which he studied in Finance and started off on Wall Street. He got the taste of the entertainment industry after he interned at the finance department of Revelations Entertainment and begun taking acting classes. Through his acting career, he worked alongside many talents, including Sally Kirkland, Michael Madsen, Sean Young, Don Stark, and Brad Blaisdale.  

The Believer releases today on digital platforms.
