The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard just got the double trailer treatment. The sequel to The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017), the film again stars Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Salma Hayek.
First, Lionsgate released a normal, theatrical trailer for the film. You can view it immediately below.
Not to be outdone, Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) tweeted #ReleaseTheRedBand along with a RedBand trailer for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.

Reynolds’ joke is so good, they even left the codes associated with each shot on the bottom of the screen with the watermark reading “Ryan Reynolds.” Obviously, #ReleaseTheRedBand cut is a jab at all the #ReleaseTheAyerCut nonsense. Not just that hashtag, as anyone on Twitter can attest, every damn movie seems to have a #ReleaseThe__________ hashtag these days. Reynolds tweeting out the Hashtag and then dropping The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard trailer certainly fits his advertising brand. (The man really is Deadpool in real life.)

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is still set to hit theatre on June 16, 2021.
The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek, with Antonio Banderas, and Morgan Freeman, Frank Grillo, Caroline Goodall, Rebecca Front, Gabriella Wright, Alice McMillan, Kristofer Kamiyasu, Tom Hopper, Blake Ritson, and Richard E. Grant.
The synopsis is below:
The world’s most lethal odd couple – bodyguard Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) and hitman Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson) – are back on another life-threatening mission. Still unlicensed and under scrutiny, Bryce is forced into action by Darius’s even more volatile wife, the infamous international con artist Sonia Kincaid (Salma Hayek). As Bryce is driven over the edge by his two most dangerous protectees, the trio get in over their heads in a global plot and soon find that they are all that stand between Europe and a vengeful and powerful madman (Antonio Banderas). Joining in the fun and deadly mayhem is Morgan Freeman as…well, you’ll have to see.
