When Today Ends is a timely feature film that looks into one of the leading causes of death amongst teens—suicide. From director Michael Leoni, he utilizes social media with his actors Gavin Leatherwood, Jacqi Vene, and Derick Breezee, to tell three different teen suicide story in a first person social media account.
Here’s the official synopsis:
When four teenagers post their personal stories online using the hashtag, #WhenTodayEnds, they have no idea the extent of their impact or how their stories will intersect. With no filter and complete abandon, Jenna, Nick, Megan, and James all share their deepest, darkest secrets only to fall eerily down the same path. Collapsing under the pressures of bullying, depression, and self-identity, their lives slowly unravel, revealing the tragic connection that binds them all together.
The film also stars Logan Garretson and Angel Guadalupe.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with actor Derick Breezee and director/writer Michael Leoni (off-camera audio only) on this ambitious storytelling of teen suicide via the social media perspective. We discussed the camerawork, filming perspectives, bullying, and suicides.
For Derick Breezee, When Today Ends marks his lead acting debut in a feature film. He comes from a stage play background, in which his first play was with Michael Leoni’s Famous at the 11:11 in West Hollywood. Also, he made an appearance in the television movie The Wrong Stepfather.
Michael Leoni is a writer and director known for American Street Kid, When Today Ends, Spare Some Change, and Someplace in Between. He is the owner of the production company An 11:11 Experience, which focuses on developing powerful stories and compelling characters. Also, he writes and produces stage plays in the Los Angeles area.
When Today Ends is currently released in theaters and available on VOD.
