Boba Fett’s Ship Get’s Official Name Change After All?

Boba Fett’s ship get’s official name change! It was something everyone was pretty sure was going to happen eventually, and now it has. Recent merchandising of the Star Wars ship, formerly called Slave-1, was simply reworded to say ‘Boba Fett’s Starship’. However, on a press release for the latest ‘War of the Bounty Hunters’ comic there is a list of Bounty Hunters and their ship names. The new name of Fett’s ship, is Firespray!.

First of all this information came from SlashGear, and they speculate that Firespray is a name inspired by the old Legends class of ship that Slave-1 was. Specifically, Kuat Systems Engineering Firespray-31-class Patrol and Attack Craft. I’d have normally said that this could have just been the class of ship and not it’s name given the connection. However, when you see the list below, it definitely does not seem that way does it?

Bossk and The Hound’s Tooth

Boba Fett and Firespray

IG-88 and IG-2000

Zuckuss and The Mist Hunter

Valance Beilert and The Broken Wing

Dengar and The Punishing One

Those are definitely ship names, not classes. Indicating that given ‘War of the Bounty Hunters’ being canon, Fett’s ship name as officially been changed to Firespray.

I guess that Disney simply does not want a popular starship owned by them known as Slave-1? Though, given Fett’s shady past, and career, and the fact, you know, it’s just a ship, I really don’t get the fuss. However, it’s also no big deal, Disney can call it the Firespray all they want, maybe it will stick in my brain eventually if I hear Fett say it enough? However for now, whenever I see that ship, I’m still going to think immediately that it’s Slave-1.

What do you think? Boba Fett’s ship get’s official name change, do you like it, loathe it, or meh it? Sound off below.
