Directors E.J. Foerster and Manny Eng leaped at the opportunity to helm Gringa, knowing it would be filmed in Mexico.
The family drama of an American running away to find her father at a Mexican beach town seems like a fish-out-of-water tale. Instead, it is a touching and emotional family story.
The film stars Steven Zahn (The White Lotus0, Judy Greer (Reboot), Jess Gabor (Shameless), and Roselyn Sanchez (Fantasy Island).
Here is a brief description of Gringa:
The film follows an unpopular high school teenager Marge Bickford (Gabor), who tragically loses her mother (Greer) unexpectedly, which leads her on a journey to find her estranged father (Zahn) in Mexico with his girlfriend (Sanchez), hoping to rebuild a relationship for the sake of their family. A tale of love, loss, and coming into one’s own, Gringa shows that sometimes you need to risk it all to find yourself.
