The Barside Buzz this weekend says we we’ll see Avengers: Secret Wars in 2028, plus some potential directors rumors. As you know Secret Wars marks the current end point of the Multiverse Saga as announced by Marvel some time ago. However, a series of delays have hit Disney for a variety of reasons and Secret Wars slipped as a result. Now a new claim from a Alex P at TCC (good hit rate) says it could be 2028 before we see Secret Wars.

The last news we heard on Secret Wars was the rumor that Michael Waldron was no longer writing the script. A rewrite could certainly delay the movie further. However, there’s more Buzz around Secret Wars and this time it’s the possible directors. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, but we’eve never had a name attached to Secret Wars. One rumor that seems to have picked up steam was Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy. To be fair, I’m not sure where this came from, one of those that just appeared. However, Levy did have a coy response when asked about this lately by ET Canada.

“I read that rumour, and that’s all I’m gonna say.”

Again, I don’t know where this rumor started, but I also don’t think you can read anything into the response.

Now for another name, as one insider names Alfonso Cuaron as someone Marvel are courting for Secret Wars. This one comes from Daniel RPK.

I can see Marvel going for someone like Cuaron. However, I’m not sure it would be his kind of deal. Remember, we also have to include Sam Raimi as per the rumor we shared above. So…is anyone else starting to wonder if some of these leakers are losing money during the strikes and just making things up? There’s so many contradictory reports this week. One thing is for sure, they cannot all be right.
