George Miller seems interested in directing Thor 5, kinda, plus Franklin Richards is rumored to be key to the plot of The Fantastic Four. Yes today we have some Marvel news and some Barside Buzz squished into one article. Let’s start with the legit news first as Mad Max creator and director George Miller says he’s interested in directed Chris Hemsworth in Thor 5 for Marvel. Hemsworth of course is the main antagonist of Miller’s new Mad Max movie, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The movie is a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road.
Speaking with ComicBook.com Miller didn’t directly say he fancies Thor 5. Though, that was the direct question put to him by the outlet. Would he direct Hemsworth in Thor 5 if he had the chance?

“I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He’s a wonderful actor. He’s got the full range of all the skills,” the director complimented the Marvel star. “I mean, you’ve got to be athletic, physically. But, you also gotta be athletic emotionally and intellectually to take on these very, ultimately fairly complex, any role really. So, I was very lucky with all my cast and particularly in the way that Anya and Chris matched each other. Particularly towards the end of the month.”
Of course, there’s a long way to go before we get even close to George Miller directing Thor 5. Far as we know, there needs to be a story idea, which doesn’t currently exist outside of Marvel’s inner circle. Miller would definitely want this to be his own thing. Therefore, it would take Miller time to develop the idea. Marvel would have to be sold on that vision and willing to give Miller the freedom. You can see why it might be tricker than Marvel just reading this interview and giving him a buzz.
However, if it did happen? Man, I would be seeing Thor 5 on opening weekend, guaranteed, I bet I’m not alone. But do I think it will happen? Nah.
Barside Buzz
Now onto the rumors which surround the MCU. The latest from leaker CWGST on subscriber service is about The Fantastic Four. The leaker claims the reason Galactus shows up at (their) Earth, is that he is looking for Franklin Richards, who was ‘born in space’ according to other rumors. Now, given the comic books this could be very well legit. Franklin has a complicated relationship with Galactus, at one point taking over from him. In another Franklin had Galactus be his Herald to ward off Celestials. Franklin is extremely powerful, and he’s a mutant, up there with the likes of Wanda and Storm as Omega level threat for sure.
However, as with all rumors take this with a pinch of salt. Franklin has been rumored for the film, but never confirmed. Nor has any actor been tipped to be playing him or Valeria Richards (sister).
Trouble in Toast Town
Now one final piece of news to note is that Toast is in a bit of trouble from Emperor Mouse. Disney has subpoenaed Instagram looking for Toasts real identity. This is a likely a pre-cursor to Disney suing the leaker. The reason, they shared some actual leaked footage from Captain America: Brave New World. Frankly, it was stupid of them, and they should never have done it, and have already removed it.
I mean, look what happens if you release legitimate property owned by Disney. It’s not like this is the first time it has happened. They can never go at someone for spoiling the plot of their movies. Sources are protected under Shield Law in the U.S. so even in this case Toast won’t be forced to name her source. However, if you leak some footage, they will go after you with the lawyers.
LRM has been politely asked not to run certain stories, or post certain images from time to time by studios, including Disney. We tend to cooperate, though some outlets refuse. I have came across footage online from time to time, but I’ve never been daft enough to think I could share it and not get into trouble. I mean it would be our best hitting article if we did it, but there’s a reason these don’t pop up outside of social media.
So what do you think of George Miller interested in directing Thor 5, would you be up for that? What about that Barside Buzz about Franklin Richard’s being key to the plot of The Fantastic Four? As always, leave any thoughts below.
