20th Century Studios to Release Collectible VHS Of Alien: Romulus

In an announcement made at a special Beyond Fest screening at the Aero Theater in Los Angeles, Alien: Romulus, the latest spine-chilling installment in the Alien franchise, will soon be available as a limited-edition collectible VHS. Director Fede Alvarez revealed the release of the retro-style tape, set to hit shelves on December 3, in celebration of the 45th anniversary of the legendary Alien series.

This fully functional VHS tape, designed to appeal to avid movie collectors and nostalgic fans alike, features exclusive artwork by renowned artist Matt Ferguson. The unveiling was part of a star-studded event, with cast members David Jonsson and Isabela Merced in attendance, alongside creature designer Shane Mahan, artist Matt Ferguson, and producer Lee Gilmore. The Q&A session, moderated by Jim Hemphill of Indiewire, offered insights into the film’s creation and its impact on the enduring legacy of the Alien saga.

Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus has garnered critical acclaim for its return to the franchise’s terrifying roots. Described as “sheer terror” by USA Today’s Brian Truitt and “utterly breathtaking” by Andrew J. Salazar of Discussing Film, the film has been celebrated by fans and critics alike. Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, Romulus has achieved impressive success at the global box office, becoming the second-highest-grossing film in the Alien franchise.
