In a recent interview studio boss James Gunn teases a future DCU role for Chris Pratt and says it’s unlikely Batman will have trunks. Let’s start with Pratt who has worked with Gunn previously, most notably within the MCU’s Guardians movies. Gunn likes to work with actors he has used in the past. Therefore, he’s always stated there’s a place somewhere for the likes of Pratt and others.

Speaking with ComicBook recently to promote Superman, Gunn reiterates his stance.

“Listen, Chris Pratt still one of my closest friends in the world and I am always looking for something for him. But also, the others, too,” he explained. “I mean he and Pom [Klementieff] are the ones that I see the most, and I’m the closest with and [Michael] Rooker. So I’m always looking for stuff.”

Whilst Rooker’s MCU time is over, Pratt’s seems certainly not to be. Where we see Starlord next, is a different question? As for Pom – well, I guess there’s no immediate necessity to have her come back, or explain her future. She left to go find herself, it’s not death, but it’s an effective exit stage left.

Rooker is already in Peacemaker Season 2, so I doubt it’s long before more Gunn alum make their way to the DCU.

Lastly, a lot of fuss was made about Superman having trunks in the DCU. Much of it Gunn himself chewing it over. In the end, as we know, Gunn chose trunks and star David Corenswet gave him the ‘in’ for how it could work. In the interview, Gunn made it clear we should likely not expect the same when it comes to the DCU’s Batman.

“I think it’s less likely that some of the other characters would have trunks. It’s more a part of Superman’s costume than it is Batman’s, even though he’s had trunks a lot in the comics.”

Yeah, I don’t think anyone needs to see Batman in trunks. Different kind of costume for a different kind of hero. Batman’s suit is functional, practical and aesthetically designed. Superman could do the same things he does now stark naked. Now the DCU just needs to get its Brave and the Bold movie off the ground and then cast their Batman.

Oh, and no, I don’t think Chris Pratt would be a good Batman, do you?

What do you think as James Gunn teases a future DCU role for Chris Pratt and says it’s unlikely Batman will have trunks? Yes, It has been an exciting weekend full of massive news stories. (This is the best I got folks.)
