The Fantastic Four: First Steps RT Scores And Box Office Look Promising For Marvel

The Fantastic Four: First Steps RT scores are in and we will also take a look at the first weekend box office.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps RT scores are in and we will also take a look at the first weekend box office. Folks I’ve been on holiday the past week, so I’m using today to catch up on the biggest news whilst I’ve been away. Or at least the news still relevant to look at today.

Though, leaving this story till now does allow a better look at the true RT scores and additionally, the box office reaction. I’ll start by saying I’ve not had the time to see the movie myself yet, hoping to rectify that this week. Once I have seen it I’ll write up my review. However, there is a review of the film from Fox on the front page currently.

In the meantime, how is the rest of the world reacting to The Fantastic Four: First Steps?

The Rotten Tomatoes critic score is currently sitting at a very decent 87%. The Audience score is 93% currently, though we could still see some shooting on that number over the next week. Not all critics love the film, as you’d expect. However, all agree this is the best live-action FF film to date, so what more can you ask for?

That’s a fairly decent set of scores for the film. Likewise, the box office is so far waking back up. Thunderbolts* despite being a very good film underperformed at the box office. However, so far First Steps looks set to be the highest grossing Fantastic Four movie to date if it keeps pace. So far First Steps has earned around $220M globally in its first weekend. That is so far outpacing Superman, which is now past $500m globally and in ‘profit’ territory already. Unless Fantastic Four cost an absolute bomb to make it suggest the film will also be profitable for Marvel Studios, which will please Disney investors.

Next up for Marvel are three films which almost guarantee a box office success by the names alone. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Whether the Avengers movies match previous heights remains to be seen. I’ll guess not, but they will still be massive hits.
