Disney Studios Celebrates TRON Day Ahead of the Release of Tron: Ares

Disney Studios is proud to celebrate TRON Day this Monday, September 22, as fans around the world honor one of cinema’s most visionary science fiction sagas. The celebration comes just weeks before the highly anticipated release of Tron: Ares, the newest chapter in the franchise, arriving in theaters nationwide on October 10, 2025.

Tron: Ares

The TRON legacy began in 1982 with the groundbreaking original film, a project that redefined the use of computer-generated imagery in cinema and introduced audiences to a bold new vision of the digital frontier. With its neon aesthetic, iconic light cycle sequences, and innovative storytelling, TRON left an indelible mark on pop culture and inspired generations of creators.

In 2010, Disney continued the story with Tron: Legacy, expanding the universe with a modern design and an unforgettable soundtrack by Daft Punk. The sequel reunited audiences with Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) while introducing his son Sam (Garrett Hedlund) in a tale that merged legacy with innovation. Its digital battles, cutting-edge effects, and memorable score cemented TRON’s place as a defining sci-fi franchise.

Now, fifteen years later, Tron: Ares ushers in a bold new era. The film introduces Jared Leto as Ares, a self-aware digital intelligence that crosses into the real world, raising profound questions about technology, identity, and the relationship between humans and machines. Jeff Bridges returns once again as Kevin Flynn, joined by a stellar cast that brings new energy to the saga.

As TRON Day shines a spotlight on the franchise’s history—from the revolutionary effects of the 1982 original, to the sleek modernization of Tron: Legacy, and now the ambitious storytelling of Tron: Ares—fans are invited to revisit their favorite moments and prepare for the next leap forward in this iconic journey.

Tron: Ares opens in theaters everywhere on October 10, 2025.
