Greg Rucka and Mike Perkins’ 12-issue LOIS LANE series feels remarkably different when read today. Jace is joined by SCOOP writer Richard Ashley Hamilton for an issue-by-issue examination of the acclaimed DC series and the questions it raises about journalism, truth and responsibility. Rather than simply recapping the plot, Jace and Richard use one moment from each issue to explore larger questions: What separates a journalist from an investigator? Is knowing something is true enough to publish it? Who keeps journalists accountable? Can revealing the truth sometimes cause more harm than concealing it? How does a reporter remain objective when the story becomes personal? And once the truth has been published, where does a journalist’s responsibility end?

The conversation also examines Lois Lane as a hero independent of Superman, the portions of the series that are heavily tied to DC continuity, Mike Perkins’ visual storytelling, Richard’s own approach to investigative storytelling in SCOOP, and the influence Greg Rucka and Lois Lane had on Sophie’s journey. Finally, Jace and Richard imagine what might happen if Sophie ever had the opportunity to work alongside Lois Lane herself.
