Mahershala Ali say’s he’s done with Blade, Avengers: Endgame Encore runtime and David Harbour praises RDJ in Doomsday. That’s everything we are covering on today’s Marvel news roundup, so let’s get started. First off…

Blade

It wasn’t that long ago we heard that the Blade movie was dead and it seemed like lead star Mahershala Ali was saying he was done for good. Then we had some rumors that Ali was still being lined up for the Midnight Sons movie. However, in a recent interview, (see below), Ali appears to indicate he’s very much done with Blade and Marvel.

Variety it was who spoke to Ali and asked if he had done any training for the role of Blade?

“Oh yeah, absolutely. For a year, yeah. It was a little more than a year. And you know, I’m actually… I’m really grateful like- they helped pay for our movie so thank you. Like really, like we couldn’t have afforded to- there’s no way we could’ve did this film (Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother) and I got to go train for a year. So at this point, I’m so grateful that they made a wonderful contribution to our film.”

Asked if Blade was done?

“I’m done. I’m doing this and anything else moving forward. So like, yeah – I’m over that. I’m done with that.”

Pretty definitive, meaning either we are not getting Blade in the MCU, or Marvel will be looking to recast the role eventually. I guess we will find out?

Avengers: Endgame Encore

We also have the runtime for Avengers: Endgame Encore. This finally gives us real evidence on how much extra is added to the film from the original theatrical release. The runtime for the non-IMAX/Infinity Vision release is 183 minutes and 3 seconds. We can compare this to a runtime of 181 minutes from the theatrical release and deduce that there are around 2 minutes of extra footage shown in the film itself.

As for the IMAX/Infinity Vision versions, this also has a sneak peek at Doomsday and thus the runtime comes in at 186 mins and 14 secs. All information here is from the BBFC website. Therefore, you are getting 2 minutes of extra footage in the main film and then a 3 minute look at Doomsday after. Hopefully this information let’s you make an informed choice on whether to see it again or not.

Finally, David Harbour who plays Alexi/Red Guardian in Avengers: Doomsday was full of praise for RDJ’s performance in the film. You can check it out on Insta here.

However, the main quote is that Harbour was asked if he’s watched Doomsday yet?

“They don’t let me watch that.” Harbour joked.

Asked about working with RDJ?

“That guy [RDJ] is a creative powerhouse. He’s so unpredictable.”

Harbour had a bit more to say about how fun it was to see all the things happen in person that he’s used to seeing in cinemas.

That’s it for your latest Marvel news folks. As always, leave any thoughts below on any of today’s stories.
