In a recent interview Lucasfilm boss Dave Filoni opens up on what we can expect from Ahsoka Season 2. Filoni is also the showrunner of Ahsoka and spoke to Empire Magazine about Season 2 coming in January, 2027.
Of the Ezra side of the story set in the normal Star Wars Galaxy, Filoni said,
“Ezra keeps warning them, “This is not the Empire you knew. They’ve got some weird stuff going on!”.
Talking about serving both the die-hard’s and the casuals Filoni said,
“Some of the audience is Scully, and some of the audience is Mulder. And I love that. You have to serve both. Some audiences can be, ‘That’s crazy, come on.’ And some are like, ‘Well… Maybe that’s true!’ Why do you so easily believe in a Force ghost? What’s the truth there? Fans will litigate that, and I think that’s the beauty of fandom.”
Filoni then explained how he has, “divided the story into two different galaxies to tell a story that was, one, very classic war-centric Star Wars-feeling and one that that’s the weird stuff that we haven’t seen.”

Of course Filoni has confirmed the Mortis Gods will be important to the side of the plot with Ahsoka and Sabine,
“It’s a challenge, I can tell you. It was so surprising when George created these archetype god characters. What were we examining there in Clone Wars? What was the metaphor? A lot of it is about power, and what you do with power, and how you wield power. For a Jedi, I think it’s a natural story path to get into these questions. What we’re dealing with is: are you going to believe in this, or not? And what is the danger if it’s real? And how are you going to prioritise your goals here? “What would a Jedi do, versus what would a regular person do? Those things come up through the course of the season.”
Will there be any connection between the stories being told in neighbouring galaxies? Who knows, but I hope they don’t remain unconnected completely.
