Whenever a film in a planned franchise is a big hit, the next logical question after “will there be a sequel?” is “will the original director come back?” The same can be said of Wonder Woman. No one expected it to be the hit it ended up being, and fans are now wondering whether or not we can expect the creative head of that film to come back for a second film.

Speaking on Conan, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins didn’t do much to answer, other than say that she wanted to, which is no surprise.
“We’re working on it. I hope to. I love it. I love the world. We’re all really excited about it. We’ll see.”
As mentioned above, no one really expected this to be a hit, but if there was someone who was as surprised as anyone, it was Warner Bros. Of course, as a stakeholder in the well being in the film, they wanted it to do well, but they didn’t quite predict the mammoth success it would be. As such, they only signed her on for one film (despite early reports claiming Jenkins was already contractually committed to a sequel).
Now, Patty Jenkins finds herself in quite the opportune position. With this solid film behind her — the first DCEU film to be beloved by critics across the board — she now has all the bargaining power to name her price, and perhaps even have a hand in other DC productions or scripts. At the very least, we know that she’s interested in moving forward with the character. If Wonder Woman made anything clear, it’s that Jenkins has a great passion for the character, which is always a good thing.
