Looks like anyone who thought that we’d seen the last of Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw was dead wrong. Despite the character’s fate at the end of Furious 7, where we saw his character get locked up and assumed that the proverbial key had been thrown away because of the charges against him, Statham is now out and about saying he’ll be back for Furious 8.
The actor has been in the headlines a lot lately, thanks to his recent comments seemingly mocking Marvel movies and our exclusive report that he had been taking meetings to appear in the studio’s gritty Daredevil TV series. Indeed, with Furious 7 being such a gargantuan hit (it’s rapidly closing in on The Avengers as the third highest-grossing film of all time), the actor’s profile has likely never been hotter. In a chat with Access Hollywood, Statham seems awfully happy that he “got invited to the party.” He also says, “It’s nice to know I’m gonna be doing another.“
Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, and Statham refused to offer an inkling of what his Shaw will be up to.
