Alex Winter Offers Latest Update On ‘BILL & TED 3’

It’s one of those sequels that’s been forever part of the internet’s rumor mill. There’ve been small drips of updates over the years, and it’s something that really looks like it will happen at one point. But, for now, BILL & TED 3 is still in that “I’ll believe it when I see it” zone for many fans. Actor Alex Winter feels that way, too.

It’s looking good,” Winter tells Forbes. But he also cautioned, “This is Hollywood so I don’t believe it’s happening until it’s coming out on VOD but we’re all working on the film everyday at the moment in terms of the pre-prep type work so it’s an active project.” Winter has his fingers crossed, though. “Hopefully we’ll be shooting it shortly.

The actor laughs whenever he’s asked if megastar Keanu Reeves is down for the threequel. “How the **** would we make it if he wasn’t on board? People always ask if Keanu’s doing it and I’m like, ‘No, I’m making a Bill movie.’ Of course he’s in it,” Winter says. “I can’t make a Bill & Ted movie without Keanu.

On the subject of a script, Winter makes clear that it will be coming from the same minds that gave us the first two films- which should come as a comfort to fans. “We’ve been working on it for, like, six years. We’re knee deep in the script, it’s been written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon who wrote the first two, they are fantastic writers, and the script is great,” he says. “We have a script, we have a director, we have a studio – we’re just trying to nail down a start date.

Here’s hoping this ends up as a massive crossover, where Bill & Ted meet up with Beavis and Butt-Head to help Wayne’s World get back on the air!
