DEADPOOL 2: Dopinder The Cab Driver To Return In Superhero Sequel

Last year’s Deadpool was one of those movies that managed to surprise on all fronts. It surprised in the trailer department, the viral video department, and most importantly, it surprised in the delivery of the film itself. For a movie that came out in the thick of the superhero genre, it had the perfect amount of snark, wit, and heart to carry it above and beyond a lot of your averagesuperhero fare.

Another aspect that certainly surprised us was the character of Dopinder. Sure, we had glimpses of him all throughout marketing, with his banter between Deadpool in the cab, but interestingly enough, he had a decent amount of screen time in the movie itself, and the end of the movie left him in a surprisingly compromising situation. Admittedly, this is a character I didn’t really expect to see again. I figured he’d get in trouble for kidnapping (and potentially manslaughter, depending on how bad that rear end was), and we’d never hear a peep about him in the future. Not so apparently.

Speaking with Nerdist during a Facebook Live Q&A, Deadpool 2 screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick confirmed that Dopinder would, in fact, be back.

“I would say that the relationship between Dopinder and Deadpool was the most fun for me. I love that relationship and I love that character. And he’ll be in the sequel.”

Of course, there are no details as to how Dopinder will figure into the plot, but it’s not unreasonable to expect that we’ll see him at a real low point in his life following his actions in the first flick. It’d be interesting to see him hold some real resentment towards Deadpool for giving him the courage to take action against his cousin.

What do you hope to see out of Dopinder in Deadpool 2? Let us know your thoughts down below!
