Normally, when one thinks of the beach, they imagine stretching out on a towel, reading a book, and maybe even going for a run. But nope, it turns out the beach is a dangerous place. At least that’s we’re led to believe based on the upcoming film Baywatch, starring Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, and Alexandra Daddario. 

The upcoming action comedy from Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon has already had a couple trailers, and if a tongue-in-cheek film in the vein of 21 Jump Street is up your alley, this one seems to fit the bill quite perfectly. Whether or not it will actually live up to the quality of that series, however, remains to be seen. However, if you were looking for a brand new red band trailer to hit, so that you could get another hit of that R-rated comedy, you’re in luck, as Paramount has gone and released a full red band trailer.

On the whole, I think this one does an okay job on selling us on this premise. Dwayne Johnson appears as magnetic as ever, and Zac Efron, for once, plays something of a straight man. Despite his washboard abs, the character seems to be the audience conduit who doesn’t understand why lifeguards are risking their lives like this. Like most comedy trailers, however, it seemed to lose steam partway through. Let’s hope they’re able to maintain the laughs throughout.

The official synopsis for Baywatch is below:

“Baywatch follows devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (Johnson) as he butts heads with a brash new recruit (Efron). Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.”
